EA says Battlefield 6 is the franchise's "biggest open beta ever" while dealing with cheaters

EA says that Battlefield 6’s open beta is a franchise best in popularity.

Electronic Arts has confirmed that Battlefield 6 has become the franchise’s biggest beta of all time. The first-person shooter is set to end its first beta weekend today, but has already racked up 521,079 peak concurrent players on Steam alone.

The publisher noted that it has also blocked over 300,000 attempts at in-game cheating, thanks to its PC anticheat software Javelin.

Battlefield 6 racks up huge numbers, becomes franchise’s most popular beta

Electronic Arts has made it official: Battlefield 6 is the franchise’s biggest beta of all time. The upcoming multiplayer first-person shooter has racked up a record number of players on Steam over the weekend, with SteamDB listing a peak of 521,079 concurrent players over the weekend.

The beta’s performance on other consoles is currently unknown, but it’s likely that it saw a good deal of players joining the fray there as well. EA stated on social media that “This is Battlefield's biggest Open Beta ever. Peak time is approaching and queues will be expected. We're working on entry times to the game, but appreciate your patience as you wait for your time to arrive.

"We want everyone to experience a smooth and fair Open Beta, including those currently within the game too. Thank you for your continued excitement for Battlefield 6's Open Beta!"

The statement was released ahead of Sunday, where the game saw its peak concurrent players swell from over 400,000, to over 500,000. The beta is set to end its first weekend later today at 4am ET, although a second weekend is also set to run from 14–17 August, 2025.

Cheaters are being dealt with in the Battlefield 6 beta

EA has already begun dealing with cheaters in the Battlefield 6 beta. According to the publisher, its anti-cheat solution Javelin has already “prevented 330,000 attempts to cheat or tamper with anti-cheat controls, and [players have] reported 44,000 instances of potential cheaters during day one and another 60,000 so far today.”

EA announced the news on Battlefield 6’s official forums, explaining that “Anti-Cheat isn't one and done, it's an ever-evolving battlefield, and what has worked for us previously or in different games doesn't always work in all of them.” These cheaters will likely be a bigger problem when the game launches, but thus far haven’t been an issue in the beta.

Battlefield 6 launches on 10 October, 2025.
