TEAM VISION storm to TI 2026 Group Stage lead with victory over BoomBoys

TEAM VISION are now leading in The International 2026 Group Stage with three straight victories.

A battle between two 2-0 teams in The International (TI) 2026 Group Stage saw a repeat of the Dota 2 Esports World Cup (EWC) 2026 finals, as TEAM VISION (aka PARIVISION) took down BoomBoys (aka BetBoom Team) in dominant fashion.

With their third Group Stage win secured, TEAM VISION are now the tournament’s frontrunners with a perfect 3-0 record, making them one of the likely team to claim a direct Playoffs berth. It is an expected result from the Dota 2 EWC winners, who are looking in exceptional form as they pursue their first Aegis of Champions.

VISION's dominant form has been spearheaded by 18-year old Alan “Satanic” Gallyamov, who has been performing incredibly well, and is, without a doubt, the strongest carry player at the event. With TI 2011 champion Clement “Puppey” Ivanov in the coaching seat, and an ultra-coordinated lineup, VISION have all the tools needed to bring the championship title home.

Their confidence should also be boosted by the fact that several of their closest competitors–namely Team Yandex, Team Falcons, and now BoomBoys–have already suffered a series loss in the Group Stage.

While BoomBoys' loss against TEAM VISION was somewhat anticipated, they did push VISION to their limits on the second map. The Eastern European powerhouse still appear promising and can potentially adapt as the tournament progresses, with their 2-1 record keeping them relatively safe from elimination. The team still have a chance to reach the group podium, but they cannot afford any additional losses.

TEAM VISION and BoomBoys’ TI 2026 Group Stage run so far

TI 2026 Group Stage is now on its second day. The two favourites in TEAM VISION and BoomBoys have both enjoyed solid starts to their Group Stage campaigns.

VISION had taken two wins against Team Resilience and Team Falcons in the opening day, and added a third to the streak with this win over BoomBoys. While they appear strong, VISION have also shown during this phase that they can bleed. The team dropped a map against Team Resilience, and another map against defending champions Falcons. The latter series was a hyped showdown, producing the most thrilling game of the tournament so far which culminated in a 94-minute decider with tons of records broken.

BoomBoys’ journey had some rocky moments as well. The team started with a dominant 2-0 victory over OG before ending the first day with a comeback win against Iron Wing in the decider. Analyst Noxville pointed out that the game featured the biggest comeback in TI history, with a 34.9k gold swing. Despite their similarly strong starts to the TI 2026 Group Stage, BoomBoys could not figure out TEAM VISION and dropped their first series of the tournament.

How TEAM VISION defeated BoomBoys in the TI 2026 Group Stage

The first match of the series was a major stomp in favour of TEAM VISION. The team drafted an unconventional Templar Assassin for Satanic, the meta-favourite Earth Spirit for Volodymyr “No[o]ne” Minenko, Centaur Warrunner for Evgeniy “Noticed” Ignatenko, Dark Willow for Naltakyan “9Class” Edgar, and Treant Protector for Andrey “Dukalis” Kuropatkin.

Meanwhile, BB opted for Ilja “Kiritych” Ulyanov’s Lifestealer, Danil “gpk” Skutin’s signature Puck, Vitalie “Save-” Melnic’s Keeper of the Light, Vladislav “Kataomi`” Semenov's Hoodwink, and Enigma for Matvey “MieRo” Vasyunin to round out a draft built around heavy teamfighting.

From the very beginning, VISION showed dominance not only in net worth but also in their map movement. A solid early-game teamfight earned them three kills, a Tier 1 tower, and a Tormentor, with the team maximising their objectives with every move. The Templar Assassin pick proved particularly effective for Satanic, allowing his exceptional farming prowess to shine as the carry amassed nearly 500 last hits within 27 minutes. BB struggled to manoeuvre around VISION’s heavily farmed line-up, with the latter already holding a 10k gold lead by that point.

gpk’s Puck attempted to poke for kills on VISION’s supports, but Treant Protector’s Living Armor and Centaur Warrunner’s ultimate allowed them to make swift escapes. BB struggled to find even a single kill to claw their way back into the game.

At 29 minutes, VISION claimed a quick Aegis before engaging BB directly outside their base. They picked up several more kills without losing a single hero, with the Aegis even expiring unused. It was complete dominance from VISION, with Satanic reaching a Godlike streak by 33 minutes and finishing the game with an impressive 11/0/8 KDA.

The second game proved to be a more strenuous battle for VISION. The team once again opened with Earth Spirit as a first pick for No[o]ne, alongside an interesting Bounty Hunter pick for 9Class. Satanic got his Juggernaut, while Noticed and Dukalis rounded out the line-up with Dark Seer and Enchantress respectively.

BoomBoys opted for a well-rounded, sustain-heavy draft, with Necrophos in the hands of Kiritych, Underlord for MieRo, Keeper of the Light once again for Save, Undying for Kataomi, and Pangolier for gpk to provide additional crowd control.

The early game was a stark contrast to the first map, with BB dominating the early skirmishes. gpk’s Pangolier was the catalyst behind many of their teamfight victories, securing a triple kill at 14 minutes and another just three minutes later to build an early Godlike streak.

VISION managed to pick up a few kills of their own to keep the game within reach, and the contest became more even once Satanic’s Juggernaut began joining teamfights. At the 24-minute mark, gpk attempted to pick off Noticed’s Dark Seer in VISION’s triangle, but Satanic swiftly teleported in and unleashed a full-duration Omnislash, claiming the kill and extending his own Godlike streak. The successful play gave VISION a significant gold injection, followed by an uncontested Aegis.

However, the Aegis was put to use almost immediately. BB read Satanic’s movement and caught him alone deep in enemy territory. All five members committed their spells to bring the carry down twice, while VISION were unable to arrive in time to save him and subsequently lost No[o]ne’s Earth Spirit as well.

The back-and-forth action eventually stalled the game, with VISION playing cautiously around the map and gradually winning the farming battle while BB struggled to find valuable engagements. When VISION finally felt they had enough of an arsenal to fight, they claimed another Aegis and marched towards BB’s high ground. However, they struggled to bring down MieRo’s tanky Underlord and burst through Kiritych’s Necrophos.

At this point, Dukalis’ Enchantress had accumulated enough resources to become a potent tower-pusher, picking up a Desolator to melt through BB’s structures.

While the teamfights continued to teeter back and forth, VISION held the stronger pushing advantage and steadily cleared a path towards the throne. In the final moments, BB managed to bring down No[o]ne’s Earth Spirit near the steps of their base, but Satanic’s Juggernaut ignored the fight and focused on the throne to seal the game and complete VISION’s 2-0 sweep.

What is The International 2026?

TI 2026 will be this year's iteration of Dota 2's annual world championship tournament, taking place in August in Shanghai, China. As with previous iterations of the tournament, TI 2026 will feature a total of 16 teams that earn their spots in the tournament by receiving direct invites or earning slots through regional qualifiers.

The list of directly-invited teams to TI 2026 include Aurora Gaming, BoomBoys (aka BetBoom Team), Team Falcons, Team Liquid, Iron Wing (aka 1w Team), Xtreme Gaming, and Team Yandex. Meanwhile, the teams that earned their spots through the regional qualifiers include European qualifier winners Team Spirit, TEAM VISION (aka PARIVISION), HULIGANI, and Nigma Galaxy, North American qualifier winner GamerLegion, Southeast Asian qualifier winner OG, South American qualifier winner LGD Gaming, as well as Chinese qualifier winners Vici Gaming and Team Resilience.

TI 2026's main event will be hosted in the Oriental Sports Center in Shanghai. Valve first announced that Shanghai will host TI 2026 during last year's world championship tournament, where Team Falcons claimed the Aegis of Champions after defeating China's Xtreme Gaming in the five-game grand finals.

This will mark the second time that Shanghai will host TI after TI 2019, where Western Europe's OG became the first-ever two-time TI champions after defeating Team Liquid in four games to claim the grand prize of US$15.6 million, out of the US$34.3 million prize pool.

TI 2026 will be split into two phases: the ‘Road to The International’ and ‘The International’ main event. The Road to The International will be a Swiss-style Group Stage from 13 to 16 August, where the 16 teams will be cut down to the final eight that will play in the game's biggest stage from 20 to 23 August in Shanghai's Oriental Sports Center.

While Valve have yet to reveal the details on TI 2026's prize pool, the tournament is expected to follow last year's prize pool format with a US$1.6 million base prize pool. The prize pool will then be boosted through sales of the TI 2026 Compendium.
