The puzzle-solving game Pokémon Friends is now out.

Pokémon Friends launches worldwide

Pokémon Friends is now officially out and playable on Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android platforms. The game was announced during this week’s Pokémon Presents livestream as a surprise release, allowing players to solve daily puzzles and collect plush toys of their favourite Pokémon.

The Pokémon Company seems to be aiming for Pokémon Friends to be a more casual and charming take on the franchise compared to, say, the battle-focused Pokémon Champions. Three of 1,200 puzzles designed by Wonderfy will be generated every day for players to solve in order to collect special yarn.

This yarn can then be used to create unique Pokémon plushies, which can be stored in a special in-game room. Additionally, players will be able to decorate the room in which these plush toys are stored however they like. Residents of Think Town, where the game is set, will also approach the player to make specific plushies.

Pokémon Friends is now available on iOS and Android mobile devices, as well as the Nintendo Switch–but there’s a catch. On mobile devices, the game will be free to start for everyone. On the Nintendo Switch, however, the game is a paid title that costs US$15.99, and includes additional DLC for the higher price.
