Pokémon Champions drops new gameplay overview trailer
The Pokémon Company’s July 2025 Pokémon Presents livestream set a launch window for its upcoming Pokémon battle-focused multiplayer game, Pokémon Champions. The game allows players to recruit new Pokémon to join their team, or transfer their old Pokémon in from Pokémon Home.
Recruiting Pokémon permanently will require the use of Victory Points, which can be gained in ranked battles or in other Pokémon Champions modes. Pokémon can also join the player’s team on a trial basis once a day, allowing players to test out different combinations of teams and moves.
Once the player has a team of Pokémon, they can also spend Victory Points to train their creatures for battle. They’ll be able to buff up their Attack, Defense, and various other stats, levelling their team up in doing so. They’ll also be able to customise their moves and abilities in training. That makes Victory Points a rather important in-game resource, though it's hard to say how scarce it might be in the full game.
Pokémon Champions will then have players participate in ranked, casual, and private battles using these Pokémon. Players will want to focus on ranked battles to gain VP, while the other modes allow for more friendly matches between friends and strangers online.
Pokémon Champions will launch on Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android in 2026.
