Neighborhoods in World of Warcraft are going to be quite similar to a real life neighbourhood.
After Blizzard Entertainment announced they are finally adding player housing in World of Warcraft, they have subsequently released a series of articles detailing the upcoming feature.
In the latest update, Blizzard Entertainment revealed more information about Neighborhoods, arguably the most interesting feature of player housing to date.
Which Neighborhood will you pick?
Houses in Azeroth will be separated into two big Neighborhood zones: Founder’s Point (for the Alliance) and Razerwind Shores (for the Horde). Each Neighborhood will consist of about 50 plots, and each plot a house.

The plots will vary in locations, so you can either choose to live relatively away from everyone else like a hermit, or choose to live in a more communal setting with your friends as neighbours if you desire!
There will be two kinds of Neighborhoods added to the game: public and private. Public Neighborhoods (think public housing) are created and run by the game, so anyone can buy a house in a Public Neighborhood.
Private Neighborhoods on the other hand (like a private estate), will be created and owned by players either as Guild Neighborhoods run by Guilds, or as a Charter Neighborhood run by an arbitrary group of people.
Neighborhoods will be persistent in the game, so once you move in, your neighbours will more or less be permanent since Blizzard Entertainment is encouraging players to come together to progress their chosen Neighborhoods together.
Come together, right now
Any player who lives in a Neighborhood will have the chance to participate in Endeavors held roughly once a month.
An Endeavor is a Neighborhood-wide activity where players have to fulfill a group of tasks. These tasks can range from crafting to completing raids. When the tasks are successfully completed, more NPCs will show up in the Neighborhoods, and there will be rewards for players including the all-new Endeavor currency and Neighborhood Favor.

Endeavor currency is used to purchase decorations for Neighborhoods from visiting NPCs, while Neighborhood Favor is used to level up your house and earn additional rewards.
This means that getting involved in a Neighborhood, just like in the real world (mostly), will be beneficial for everyone involved, and add a unique identity to the said Neighborhood!

What if my neighbour turns out to be… weird?
While Neighborhoods are putting a huge emphasis on creating and maintaining communities, players still have the final say on where they want to live, and who they allow into their own homes.
Just like in real life, you can choose to get up and move out anytime (if you think your neighbour is bothering you, for example). It will be as simple as saving your house’s state before you leave, and having your new house looking the same way you left it once you have moved in and unpacked.
You can also decide who gets to access your plot or your house, and even visit your friends from a different faction altogether. Houses are also shared amongst your Warband, so your Troll from your Warband can also live in your Human’s house in Founder’s Point!
