Marvel Rivals adds memes and balance changes in a new game update.
NetEase Games has announced new details for Marvel Rivals’ next update, which is due to arrive on 19 June at 9am UTC. This update not only adds balance changes to buff heroes like Moon Knight and Thor, but also adds a pink Venom skin and a Tralalero Tralala emote for Jeff the Land Shark.
I repeat: we're getting a Tralalero Tralala emote for Jeff the Land Shark.
Marvel Rivals adds Venom’s Bubble Pop event with new cosmetics
Marvel Rivals Season 2 is officially coming to an end on 11 July, but NetEase isn’t letting Season 2 go out on a whimper. The developer is adding a new Venom’s Bubble Pop event this season, which consists of several event missions players can complete to earn cosmetic rewards. A Future Foundation costume for the Human Torch can be earned in this event for free, despite the hero only wearing said costume rather briefly in the comics.
Much like Marvel Rivals’ ongoing Combat Chest event, players are going to have to fork up extra for the Premium edition of the Venom’s Bubble Pop mini battle pass to access more cosmetics. That includes the Pink Bubble costume for Venom, and most importantly, a Jeff the Landshark emote called “Jeff’s New Kicks.”
In case you’re having trouble spotting the reference here, this emote is a nod to a popular Marvel Rivals inside joke that compares Jeff the Land Shark to an AI-generated meme character called Tralalero Tralala, which is often referred to as being part of the “Italian brainrot” family.
Tralalero Tralala is a shark wearing what appears to be blue Nike sneakers on its three legs. Jeff is also a shark with legs. You can see where players put two and two together here.
New balance updates arrive for Moon Knight and Thor in new Marvel Rivals patch
This week’s Marvel Rivals patch isn’t game-changing, but it adds a few balance updates for players to keep track of all the same. Thor has received a quality-of-life upgrade after getting hit with a pretty big overhaul recently, and is now able to manually cancel the Awakened state after casting Awakening Rune.
Additionally, Moon Knight’s base health has been increased from 250 to 275, and Star-Lord’s Element Guns now have a maximum Damage Falloff at 25m of 65%, up from 60%. Storm is getting nerfed slightly with a higher energy cost for her Ultimate ability (3,400, up from to 3,100).
Additionally, Luna Snow and Hawkeye’s team-up ability Chilling Assault is getting its damage and stun duration nerfed slightly, while Storm and Jeff the Land Shark’s team-up ability Jeff-nado now takes more time to devour enemies. Rocket Raccoon and Peni Parker’s team-up ability Rocket Network now has a higher cooldown period, as well.
