Minecraft’s Vibrant Visuals update drops this week

Mojang and Microsoft are officially gearing up to deliver a graphical update for Minecraft tomorrow, on 17 June, 2025. Mojang plans to launch the Vibrant Visuals update for its renowned sandbox video game tomorrow, adding a swathe of graphical improvements including directional lighting, volumetric fog, and more to players.

This update will only affect Minecraft’s visuals, so don’t expect big gameplay changes or improvements. Lighting will appear far more realistic than before, with the sun streaming light through windows and into the player’s room, while bodies of water reflect the landscapes around them, and torches cast a radiant path back to the player’s build.

Additionally, a few visual flourishes have been added simply to beautify the game. For example, warmer biomes now take on orange-yellowish tones, while cooler biomes appear more blue by comparison. These visual features can be toggled on and off for all players in the game’s menu, allowing them to access classic Minecraft graphics with the click of a button.

Minecraft is also coming to Sonic Racing CrossWolds, though the latter game boasts a very different style of gameplay.
