IO Interactive will show off its James Bond game this week.
Hitman game developer IO Interactive has announced the title of its long-awaited James Bond game: 007: First Light. The game was first announced in 2021, under the codename “Project 007,” as the first licensed game in the James Bond franchise since 2012’s 007 Legends.
This week, IO Interactive will also host an “IO Showcase” on 6 June at 6pm PDT, showing off more details for 007: First Light, along with MindsEye, and new content for its Hitman games.
IO Interactive poised to reveal details for James Bond game this week
Game developer IO Interactive is finally ready to unveil its upcoming James Bond game. The game developer took to social media recently to drop key art revealing the game’s title, 007: First Light, with the promise of a “game reveal this week.”
While some speculated that this reveal would take place at The Game Awards host Geoff Keighley’s upcoming games showcase Summer Game Fest, IO Interactive has quickly revealed its very own online presentation: IO Showcase.
IO Showcase will feature reveals for three video game properties tied to the developer: 007: First Light, the upcoming MindsEye, which it will publish, and the Hitman: World of Assassination trilogy. This year is the Hitman franchise’s 25th anniversary, so expect more DLC content to come for the trilogy.
The big ticket item here is clearly 007: First Light. The game was first announced in 2021, and is set to deliver a new origin story for its version of James Bond–the iconic international super spy. The visual released for the game hasn’t revealed the face of IO Interactive’s new James Bond, so expect that much to be shown off during the showcase, at least.
007: First Light does not have a release date.
