Here’s a closer look at GTA VI’s new locations in the fictional state of Leonida.
Rockstar Games has unveiled a closer look at the state of Leonida, which serves as the setting for its highly-anticipated open-world game Grand Theft Auto VI. Vice City is featured prominently in the game, of course, but it’s far from the only location players will be travelling to in Leonida.
Here’s a breakdown of all of GTA VI’s known locations.
Vice City

Here’s how Rockstar describes Vice City, the main setting of GTA VI’s main story which features “everything in excess”:
We're a long way from the '80s, but Vice City is still the sun and fun capital of America. The glamour, hustle, and greed of America captured in a single city. Each neighborhood has something to offer, from the pastel art deco hotels and bright white sands of Ocean Beach, to the bustling panaderías of Little Cuba and the bootleg brands of the Tisha-Wocka flea market, out to the VC Port, the cruise ship capital of the world.
Rockstar is referencing 2002’s Grand Theft Auto: Vice City here, by saying “We’re a long way from the ‘80s.” Clearly, Vice City has changed and evolved in the decades since we last saw this city. The city is also now firmly set in the state of Leonida, rather than Florida, which was previously referenced as its true state of origin.
Leonida Keys

Next, we have Leonida Keys, which consists of a number of tropical islands off the southern coast of Leonida. Here, players can visit paradise-like beaches located amid “dangerous waters.” Here’s how Rockstar describes the “gateway to paradise”:
The dress code is casual, the bars are loaded. Life in this tropical archipelago isn’t flashy but it’s easy. Get your buzz on and pull up a deck chair but look out — you are right on the doorstep of some of the most beautiful and dangerous waters in all of America.
Grassrivers

We got a sneak peek at the swampy wetlands of Leonidas in GTA VI’s first reveal trailer, but here’s an official first look at Grassrivers. In these marshes, players will have to contend with alligators, other predators, and “weirder discoveries.” Here’s how Rockstar describes the location:
The untamable jewel of Leonida’s crown. You never know what lies beneath the surface of this primordial expanse. The gators may be the most famous attraction, but there are far deadlier predators and weirder discoveries among the mangroves.
Port Gellhorn

This might be one of GTA VI’s less popular locations, canonically speaking. An old vacation spot has become a haven for crime, drugs, and alcohol in Port Gellhorn, which Rockstar describes as such:
This is Leonida’s forgotten coast. Cheap motels, shut-down attractions, and empty strip malls won’t bring the tourists back, but there’s a new economy in this once-popular vacation spot. It’s fueled by malt liquor, painkillers, and truck stop energy drinks. Jump on a dirt bike and hold onto your wallet.
Ambrosia

Ambrosia, known as the food of the gods in Greek mythology, also serves as the name for the industrial sector of Leonida in GTA VI. Rockstar describes the location as such:
The battle for the health and wealth of Leonida begins here. In the heart of Leonida, American industry and old school values still reign supreme — whatever the cost. The Allied Crystal sugar refinery provides the jobs, while the local biker gang provides almost everything else.
Mount Kalaga

Lastly, we have the nature-themed wild countryside of Mount Kalaga. This is a national landmark in Leonida’s northern border, offering players likely spots to fish, hunt, and embark on offroad trails. Here’s how Rockstar describes the location:
Room to breathe on the state's northern fringes. A national landmark up against the state’s northern border, Mount Kalaga offers prime hunting, fishing, and off-road trails. In the lush surrounding backwoods, hillbilly mystics and paranoid radicals live far from the prying eyes of the government.
