Indie survival games unite!

Palworld developer Pocketpair has announced a rather unexpected crossover with the hit indie 2D survival game Terraria. Both games will crossover for an upcoming content update due sometime in 2025, likely to feature items and creatures from the world of Terraria showing up in Palworld. While the game’s next update is already being teed up by Pocketpair on official social media channels, it looks like the developer has bigger plans in mind for 2025.

Palworld and Terraria announce surprise 2025 crossover

Game studio Pocketpair might be dealing with an ongoing lawsuit from The Pokemon Company and Nintendo at the moment, but it’s not letting legal troubles get in the way of Palworld’s future. The hit survival game featuring Pokemon-like characters is due to receive another major update soon, and is set to continue thriving next year with even more content additions.

One of these big content updates will involve a crossover with Terraria, the 2D survival sandbox game developed by Re-Logic. Terraria is one of the highest-selling videogames of all time thanks to its availability on multiple platforms, having sold over 44.5 million copies by May 2022. The game has players build shelter, weapons, and armour to survive in a hostile world filled with monsters, different biomes, and friendly NPCs.

The content of this Palworld x Terraria crossover is currently unknown, but it is likely that we’ll see creatures from Terraria appear in Palworld, along with cosmetics, weapons and furniture items. Likewise, we might see content from Palworld get added to Terraria in 2D form, given the latter game’s erratic update schedule.

What’s interesting is that this marks Palworld’s first major crossover, and proves Pocketpair’s willingness to share the IP around. If a Terraria crossover is coming to Palworld next year, what’s next?
