After obstructing various Nintendo live events with death and bomb threats in 2023, Kenshin Kazama is sentenced to 1 year in prison and 4 years in probation.

Kazama, who continuously harassed Nintendo for a period of four months in Nintendo’s online inquiry form, claimed to have sent the threats to “relieve stress” after he became irritated with his continued loss in online battles of Nintendo games, as per NHK’s report.

Kazama was charged by the Kyoto District Court for Forcible Obstruction of Business. Kazama had been harassing Nintendo and its employees from August to November 2023.

Due to Kazama’s actions, Nintendo had cancelled the Nintendo Live 2024 event and main esports tournaments in December 2023, for the safety of both Nintendo’s staff and guests in attendance.  The event was supposed to occur in January 2024.

Kazama had reportedly threatened to “kill everyone involved”, as reported by Japanese newspaper Kyoto Shimbun.

Kazama was arrested back in April.
