The hit manga series One Piece is getting a videogame adaptation called One Piece Odyssey.

Bandai Namco has revealed its new JRPG One Piece Odyssey, an upcoming game based on the iconic manga series created by Eiichiro Oda. The series creator is also working on this game, contributing new character and monster designs as well as an all-new story starring the Straw Hats.

Check out the reveal trailer below:

According to Bandai Namco, the game begins with series protagonist Monkey D. Luffy and his crew of Straw Hats in dire straits:

During their voyage, the Straw Hats, led by Monkey D. Luffy are swallowed by a huge storm at sea. They end up on a mysterious island full of nature amidst the storm and become separated from each other. The crew sets out on a new adventurous journey filled with wonders of a raging nature, powerful enemies, and strange encounters with island locals. Work together with Luffy and his crew to set sail once again!

While we don’t know if One Piece Odyssey is going to be an open-world game, we do know that players will spend most of their time exploring this mysterious island as not only Luffy, but other playable characters such as Nami, Zoro, Usopp, Chopper, Robin, Sanji, Frankie and Brook. It looks like the game’s combat will be turn-based, with lots of flashy animations and a party of friends to assist you in battle.

The game will also feature quests and dungeons with a, “One Piece twist,” according to Bandai Namco. One Piece Odyssey is being developed by ILCA, Inc., the game studio behind the recent Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl remakes. Composer Motoi Sakuraba (Dark Souls, the Tales of series) will provide music for the game.

One Piece Odyssey will launch later in 2022 on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. One Piece is also getting a live-action series adaptation on Netflix, but we don’t have a release date for that project just yet.
