Lego's new Horizon Forbidden West Tallneck set arrives in May

Lego and PlayStation are collaborating for a brand-new Lego set based on Horizon Forbidden West.

Lego has announced a new set based on Horizon Forbidden West. This will be Lego’s very first buildable model based on the PlayStation-exclusive game franchise, and the company has worked with developer Guerrilla Games to bring it to life.

Lego revealed the set via a teaser video:

This Lego set is based on one of the most iconic machines players faced in Horizon Zero Dawn: the aptly-named Tallneck. Aloy climbs these massive machines and hacks them to reveal undiscovered areas and points of interest in her map. Lego’s version is pretty hefty, coming in at 1,222 pieces to assemble altogether.

The set comes with smaller minifigures of Aloy with her spear and bow in tow, as well as a Watcher machine with swappable blue, yellow or red eyes. Underneath the Tallneck are brick-built remains of the old world, with a rusty stoplight, wild grass and birch tree. With a little creativity, you could imagine an invisible Stalker right next to that Watcher too.

Make no mistake though, the Tallneck is the centerpiece of this set. Fans will recognise interesting details pulled from the game, such as the yellow platforms studded across its back, which Aloy uses to parkour her way up the machine. The Tallneck is functionally similar to a satellite in-game, with its smooth disc-shaped head acting as a communications device. On top of that head, you’ll find the little red ring Aloy jams her spear into to hack the machine.

The Tallneck stands at 13.5 inches (34 cm) high, so it’s not quite as large as its videogame counterpart. The set costs US$79.99, with local pricing yet to be revealed. You can grab it via Lego’s website or retail stores from May 1 onwards.

Lego has been making a big push for new videogame sets recently. The company has a variety of Super Mario sets, and just released a Sonic the Hedgehog set too. We can safely expect this set to be just the first of many PlayStation collaborations to come, so is it too early to hope for one based on The Last of Us? Probably.
