BetBoom and Aurora were the top seeds of the tournament's Swiss-format Group Stage, winning all three of their matches to become the first teams to qualify for the Playoffs. BetBoom defeated
Virtus.pro,
Team Liquid, and
Team Falcons while Aurora took down
South America Rejects,
Xtreme Gaming, and
PARIVISION.
The eventual grand finalists then breezed through the first two rounds of the Playoffs to set up their first showdown of the tournament in the upper bracket finals. BetBoom swept another regional rival in
Team Spirit in the upper bracket quarterfinals before taking down Liquid again in a three-game slugfest in the upper bracket semifinals. Meanwhile, Aurora swept
HEROIC to start their own Playoff campaign then defeated PARIVISION in three games in the next round.
The upper bracket finals then saw BetBoom defeat Aurora in three games, including an 81-minute thriller in game one, to become the first team to advance to the grand finals. As a result, Aurora were knocked down to the lower bracket finals, where they swept Falcons to force a rematch with BetBoom in the championship round.
While their previous meeting in the upper bracket finals went to three games, BetBoom gave Aurora no quarter in the grand finals as they absolutely dominated their opponents in three one-sided games to claim the championship.
BetBoom came out swinging to start the grand finals, claiming the lead before the horn even sounded and never looking back. Despite their disastrous start, a resilient Aurora squad still managed to put up a stubborn defense before eventually being forced to call GG after a 62-minute grinder.
Ilja “Kiritych” Ulyanov led the way for BetBoom in game one with a series-high 17 kills and 11 assists on three deaths as Muerta out of his team's 42-19 kill lead.
Matvey “MieRo” Vasyunin on Enigma added 10 kills and 16 assists on three deaths while
Danil “gpk” Skutin on Pangolier had eight kills and 20 assists on just one death.
Game two was one of the most one-sided games of the entire tournament, as BetBoom utterly stomped Aurora to the tune of a lopsided 28-4 kill score in 42 minutes of action. Gpk on Pangolier put up a perfect nine-kill, 12-assist performance to lead his team to a commanding 2-0 series lead while Kiritych on Monkey King added six kills and 13 assists on one death.
With their backs against the wall in game three, Aurora put up their best showing in the grand finals as they managed to keep things relatively even with BetBoom through the first 20 minutes of the game. However, it was not enough to extend the series as BetBoom eventually pulled away in the mid game and closed out the 3-0 series sweep after a 49-minute rout.
Gpk once again was the star of the show to secure the championship for BetBoom, racking up 15 kills and 16 assists on just one death as Puck out of his team's 41-20 kill lead in the closeout game. Kiritych on Muerta added nine kills and assists apiece against five deaths.
