Team Spirit's Larl to miss three major tournaments amid personal break

Mirele will stand in for Larl over the next six weeks as the midlaner steps away temporarily due to personal reasons.

Prominent Dota 2 team and two-time The International (TI)–winning organisation Team Spirit will be without their mid laner, Denis “Larl” Sigitov, for the next six weeks due to personal reasons. His absence coincides with several crucial early-season events, including the upcoming BLAST Slam VI and DreamLeague Season 28.

According to the team’s social media post, Team Spirit will also compete in an upcoming FISSURE Universe tournament without Larl, although no upcoming FISSURE Dota 2 event has been officially announced yet. Yellow Submarine's mid laner Mirele will fill in for Larl throughout his break.

Mirele to stand in for Larl in three tournaments

Larl’s absence will undoubtedly leave a major dent in Spirit’s lineup. He has served as the team’s midlaner for over three years, most notably winning TI 2023 together. With the absence of a key player, the team’s synergy may be at risk–especially concerning for fans and supporters as the team approaches several major tournaments.

Twenty-year-old Russian player Mirele will be tasked with filling the midlane during Larl’s break. Mirele only began playing competitive Dota 2 in 2024 with mild results in the Tier 2 and Tier 3 scene. He is best known for his time with Yellow Submarine, widely regarded as Team Spirit’s sister team due to their closely linked players and management.

It’s no surprise to see Spirit opt for Mirele, as he previously stood in for Larl during FISSURE Universe Episode 6 last August. At that time, the team finished second behind the eventual world champions, Team Falcons.

However, unlike his previous stand-in appearance, Mirele will need to settle in for a longer run, as Larl will be away for nearly two months.

During this period, Mirele will be competing alongside Team Spirit in major events, including BLAST Slam VI from 3 to 15 February and DreamLeague Season 28 from 16 February to 1 March.

While Spirit’s participation in BLAST Slam VI has not yet been officially confirmed, the team specifically mentioned the event in their announcement.

Team Spirit has long been a consistent powerhouse in the top-tier Dota 2 scene, most recently securing second-place finishes at back-to-back tournaments. The team enters the 2026 season as one of the favorites, but with a significant change to its lineup, it remains to be seen whether they can maintain their form.
