BLAST Slam VI will be held in Malta in February 2026

BLAST has revealed details for its sixth BLAST Slam edition, set for Malta in February.

Danish tournament organiser BLAST has announced key details for the next edition in its Dota 2 competitive series. BLAST Slam VI, the sixth instalment in the series, will take place in Malta from 3 to 15 February 2026, featuring the usual US$1 million prize pool.

Although BLAST only entered the Dota 2 scene in 2024, its tournament series has quickly established itself as a staple in the scene’s Tier 1 competitive circuit. Following a full season of successful million-dollar events, the organiser began to expand its operations, bringing the action beyond its Copenhagen studio to live audiences around the world.

Just two days ago, BLAST concluded BLAST Slam IV in Singapore, crowning Tundra Esports as the champion for the third straight time in the series. The culmination of the event is beyond a doubt one of the most memorable finales in Dota 2 history, excitingly delivered in front of BLAST’s first-ever live audience in this title.

With BLAST's fifth edition already announced to be hosted in Chengdu, China this December, the organiser now revealed key information for its sixth Dota 2 event. Alongside the location announcement, they also unveiled details regarding team invitations, tournament format, and more.

BLAST Slam VI first team invites revealed

Direct invitations have been awarded to the top four teams from BLAST Slam IV: Tundra Esports, Team Falcons, MOUZ, and Heroic. Four additional teams will qualify based on their performances in BLAST Slam V in Chengdu. The Americas region will receive one direct invite slot, which has yet to be determined, while three more teams will qualify through closed regional qualifiers across Europe, China, and Southeast Asia.

The open qualifiers will run from 2-3 January, followed closely by the closed rounds from 4-5 January.

Tournament format

The twelve-day event will follow the same structure used in BLAST Slam IV, consisting of a Group Stage, Last Chance Playoffs, Play-In, and offline Playoffs.

The Group Stage, to be held from 3 to 7 February, will see all participating teams face off in a best-of-one round robin format. The top two teams from this stage will advance directly to the Playoffs Semifinals, while the teams placing third through eighth will proceed to the Play-In. The lowest-ranked teams will drop into the Last Chance Playoffs, where they must fight to stay in contention.

In the Last Chance Playoffs, losing teams will be eliminated, while the winners move forward to the Play-In stage. There, eight teams will battle for a place in the Playoffs. The four surviving teams will then join the two Group Stage leaders in the offline Playoffs in Malta, where the next BLAST Slam champion will be crowned.
