Team Liquid crush PARIVISION to win FISSURE Universe Episode 5

Team Liquid lost just one game throughout the entire tournament despite playing without team captain Insania.

Team Liquid emerged triumphant at FISSURE Universe: Episode 5, taking down Eastern European juggernauts Team Liquid, 3-0, in the grand finals on Saturday (5 July).

Liquid's dominant victory is even more impressive given that the team won without team captain, Aydin “Insania” Sarkohi, who remains sidelined due to illness. Austrian player Tobias “Tobi” Buchner, who had previously stood in for Insania during PGL Wallachia Season 5, continued to fill Insania's role throughout this tournament—yielding remarkable success.

In this compact, four-day FISSURE event, Liquid delivered a consistent and confident run to the top. They dominated the Group Stage with seven wins and one loss to top Group B, earning victories over HEROIC, Nigma Galaxy, and AVULUS while drawing against Aurora Gaming.

In the Playoffs, Liquid crushed PARIVISION twice—first defeating them 2-0 in the upper bracket finals and then closing out the tournament with a clean 3-0 sweep in the grand finals. It was a commanding run throughout, as Liquid consistently outmaneuvered and outperformed PARIVISION, often closing games in quick wins.

Following the landslide victory, Liquid walk away with the US$125,000 grand prize and mark their third tournament victory this season—having previously claimed titles won PGL Wallachia Season 3 in March and Season 4 in April.

A successful warm up before the Dota 2 Esports World Cup

While FISSURE Universe: Episode 5 was a brief event, it offers valuable insight into the team's form heading into the Esports World Cup (EWC) 2025's Dota 2 competition, set to take place from 8 to 19 July. This premier ESL tournament will feature the top teams from the ESL Pro Tour (EPT) leaderboard and regional qualifiers, with a massive US$3 million prize pool on the line.

This victory could provide the momentum Liquid needs as they enter one of the most pivotal stretches of the Dota 2 competitive season. Not only will they be among the top contenders at the upcoming EWC, but they’ll also be preparing to defend their world championship title at The International 2025 this September.
