A medical emergency forces Boxi to fly home before Lima Major finals

Team Liquid will be playing for a spot in the Lima Major grand finals without Samuel "Boxi" Svahn.

Western Europe regional league winners and with an already top 3 finish secured at the Lima Major, Team Liquid is widely regarded as the main favorite at taking the trophy home. But, unfortunately, ahead of their upper bracket final against Gaimin Gladiators, Team Liquid is facing a terrible issue.

Without disclosing any details, Liquid’s coach,  William "Blitz" Lee announced that Boxi is being sent home “immediately” due to a medical emergency.

With Valve’s approval, Mathis "Jabbz" Friesel, Team Liquid’s analyst, will be standing in for the next matches at the Lima Major. Jabbz will be returning to competitive play to help his team after nearly three years of inactivity. His last few matches were played in 2019 at WESG in a Dutch national team, NADCL Seson 3, and in 2020 at ESL Meisterschaft. He joined Team Liquid as an Analyst and worked alongside Blitz towards the end of 2020. Since then he’s been one of the factors in Team Liquid’s constant growth.

Lima Major marks the second big event in a row where Team Liquid reached the finals stage. At The International 2022, they took the long road from last-chance qualifiers to reach the top 3 on the main stage. Many in the Dota 2 community praise and attribute the recent incredible form of Team Liquid to Boxi, who in 2021 had to take a few months off to deal with health issues before returning and becoming one of the best position 4 players in the professional scene.

Everyone at GosuGamers wishes Boxi a safe and fast recovery and sends him and Team Liquid all the best wishes.
