compLexity Gaming tops the SL i-League Invitational minor group B

Ten months since their last LAN presence, compLexity Gaming kicks off the 2017-2018 Dota Pro Circuit with crushing performances against Newbee and Na’Vi to secure their first qualifier points.

Regarded as the group B underdogs, compLexity Gaming came to Kiev hungry for victory. The last time we saw them playing on a LAN event stage was back in December 2016 at the Boston Major where they finished only bottom four. They have shaken up the roster several times since then and with the return to the team of the Blomdin brothers, Cheesie and Limmp, coL looks better than ever. They earned their spot at the first minor of the season via NA qualifiers and besides the StarLadder i-League Invitational Season 3, they’ve also secured tickets to the Perfect World Masters minor and they’ve reached the DreamLeague Season 8 Major NA qualifiers playoffs.

So far so good for the coL boys who delivered quite the surprise on the second day of SL i-League Invitational by taking down 2-0 China’s best team, Newbee, and  2-1 the home crowd favorites, Natus Vincere. While the Newbee series was won in a more convincing fashion, Na’Vi gave coL a run for their money, or their points rather. The first game of the series went in Na’Vi’s favor who had more of a reactive anti-push draft. CoL however, pushed the series in a decider game three with a David "Moo" Hull - Beastmaster specialty. Six minutes Helm of Dominator, nine minutes Medallion of Courage and an 11 minutes Force Staff for Moo gave Na’Vi no chance to defend any of their towers.

Game three was even more interesting, with coL bringing an intricate draft that had Moo on a safe lane Winter Wyvern and Zakari "Zfreek" Freedman on a jungle/roaming Nature’s Prophet support. Clearly, the highlight of the day, the Na’Vi vs compLexity Gaming series is worth watching in case you missed the live broadcast.

With their two victories in the group stage, coL secured a spot in the SL i-League Invitational #3 playoffs and a minimum of 30 qualifier points for The International 2018. Along with Team Liquid from group A, they are the first two teams to have advanced in the playoffs so far. The third day of the event will decide the other two teams joining them and will see four teams ending their journey in the first minor of the 2017-2018 Dota Pro Circuit.

14 October, Day 3 Schedule:

15:00 CEST: SG e-sports vs TBD (Group A decider match)
