Alliance crowned Champions of The Final Match

The first ever Peruvian LAN ended with the Swedish team Alliance taking home the trophy, dropping only one game through the entire event.

The Final Match is the very first Dota 2 LAN organized in Lima, Peru on a large scale. Three overseas teams got directly invited to the event, Alliance, from Europe, Team Spirit, representing the CIS region, and the Kyrgyz roster of MVP Revolution representing South Korean Dota. Across three days, July 7-9, these three had the chance of playing against a bunch of South American teams, including The International 7 qualified Infamous, and the Brazilians from SG e-sports with whom most of the Dota 2 fans should be familiar from Kiev Major.

Of the eight participating teams, Alliance have been enjoying a very warm welcome from the crowd, the Swedish team and its former captain Jonathan 'Loda' Berg being nicely surprised by the huge number fans they have in Peru. A true legend, with fans all over the world, Loda was now for the first time in Peru, and although he didn’t compete in The Final Match, he still was the crowd’s favorite, the lines of people hoping to get an autograph or a picture with him being insanely long. Loda and Alliance might not be going through the best times right now, losing the TI 7 European qualifiers and all, but the Final Match experience can very well be a boost of morale for them and a good reason to feel reinvigorated heading into the next competitive season.

With the incredible amount of support from the crowd behind them, Alliance had an undefeated run in the group stage and reached the playoffs grand finals also undefeated. In last night’s grand finals, Alliance battled for the Final Match trophy against the Brazilians from SG e-sports taking the first game of the series in under 30 minutes with an overall kill score of 22 to 4 in their favor and a flawless performance from Linus 'Limmp' Blomdin on Templar Assassin who was involved in 18 of the total 22 kills. SG e-spots retaliated in the second game, interestingly enough with the Templar Assassin on their side in William 'hFn' Medeiros’s hands. The next two games, however went Alliance’s way and they took home their first trophy won on the South American continent and $21,250 in prize money along with it.

The Final match prize pool distribution:

1st place, $21,250: Sweden Alliance
2nd place, $11,250: Brazil SG e-sports
3rd place: $6,500: CIS Team Spirit
4th place:  $5,000: Peru Thunder Awaken
5th-6th place, $1,750: Peru Elite Wolves, Korea MVP Revolution
7th-8th place,$1,250: Peru Infamous, Brazil Midas Club Elite
