Evil Geniuses breeze through Clutch Gamers

In a completely expected result, Evil Geniuses swept Clutch Gamers to claim a spot against OG in the next round at the Mars Dota 2 League 2017.

The Mars Dota 2 League 2017 was in full swing and Evil Geniuses would find themselves in a lower bracket clash against Clutch Gamers. A win looked almost certain for EG, especially with them heading to The International 2017 soon but a loss would mean an early exit from the MDL tournament.

Game One

EG managed to find first blood just prior to 3 minutes in with a great rotation into the mid lane but Clutch Gamers were quick to find a return kill in the top lane a few moments later. As the game moved to just past the fifteen minute mark, CG had surmounted a 7-3 lead in the kills but were still slightly behind on the net worth graphs. As EG begun to build up a head of steam, they took a great fight mid lane and brought the kill score to 7-6.

From that point on, EG placed themselves in a very commanding position and looked ready to take the first game in the series. After they claimed an aegis, EG continuously found kill after kill and at just over twenty five minutes, they marched past the Dire’s tier 3 towers and wiped CG completely under their tier 4’s before returning to destroy the mid lane barracks. Within a few minutes, CG were assaulted again and with that, threw in the towel, giving EG the first game of the series.

Game Two

A quick start from CG this time saw them claim first blood before the horn sounded, as they killed off the Alchemist in an attempt to deny Syed Sumail 'Sumail' Hassan a bounty rune. Even with that, the Alchemist was able to grab an early bounty rune but CG were playing much more aggressively, and claimed another kill in the opening minute. While CG continued to take control of the kill side of the game, they were letting the Alchemist farm up and that would possibly be the telling factor for the game.

It took fifteen minutes for EG to actually make any showing in the game as Sumail begun to make his showing with an extremely farmed Alchemist. With twenty minutes approaching, EG managed to claim an aegis but the 7 kill bloodbath that ensued was in CG’s favour as they dropped 4 from the Radiant’s line up. Even with that, EG still were dominating the Dire line-up at every other turn and the looked all but ready to end the game.

With a new aegis in hand, EG took the game to CG, deleting them from the map and pushing into their base to claim the mid and top lane barracks. With that, the series and MDL was over for CG while Evil Geniuses would move on in the lower bracket to face OG tomorrow.
