WellPlay Invitational returns with a new format

A boosted prize pool, a single elimination bracket, and a bunch of appealing teams to watch playing on the new 7.00 patch are the ingredients for a week of the WellPlay Invitational.

The sixth edition of the WellPlay Invitational will kick off today, December 17th, with Vitalbet as the tournament’s main partners. Changing the format from a double elimination bracket to a single elimination one, and boosting the prize pool from $3,000 to $5,000, this edition of WellPlay feature the likes of Team Liquid, Alliance, Team Empire and many more.

The entire tournament will take place over the course of almost one week, with the opening series featuring Team Liquid versus FRIENDS, which is scheduled to commence at 17:00 CET today. Following the opening series, the tournament will run till December 22nd. Right after the opening match, lifetime friends and now co-owners of Alliance, Jonathan 'Loda' Berg and Joakim 'Akke' Akterhall, will play against each other due to the Swedish team being seeded against Akke’s side project, Horde.

Also invited to this sixth edition of WellPlay are the five Danes from Imperial who announced last week their departure from the organization and have yet to reveal their new battle tag. Most likely the announcement will come with their first official match, which is scheduled to take place on 18th of December.
