A number of small map adjustments were implemented in yesterday's Boston Major compendium release which many fans may have overlooked amidst their hype.
The Fall Major update yesterday saw many fans all over the world emptying their wallets over the Battle Pass, which includes quests, treasures, and a ticket for the new Battle Cup. However, what many fans may have overlooked were a bunch of useful map changes that accompanied the update.
First and foremost, the model for the Ancient Black Dragon was updated to a new impressively smooth one. While many fans were satisfied with the remodel, critics complained that Valve should have focused on remodeling the more unattractive heroes such as Viper and Slardar, and that the Twin-Head Dragon, Jakiro, should have been given priority over the Ancient Black Dragon.
Another interesting change was made to the rune markers which are now more visibile, so now you might have a better chance to snag the rune from your enemies (or allies). An interesting gameplay change--which might impact how players at lower-level pubs approach the late game and breaking high ground--is the addition of a backdoor protection marker along the health bar of buildings benefitting from it.
While the backdoor protection could be previously checked by clicking on the tower and checking its buffs, it's an interesting ease of access change which might ease the game for newer players. And speaking about ease of access, another similar change is the change to the mini-map which now includes generic icons for the base and the secret & side shops. This function was made optional in today's update, which also included a method for the gifting of 2016 Fall Battle Pass.
The map changes may be a forerunner of many more map adjustments that the New Journey Update may bring in December this year. However, it seems that only time will tell what the frog has in store for us.
