Dota 2 news week in review: September 26th

For those who might have missed the most important news from the past week in the competitive Dota 2 scene, here is a short recap.

MDL Autumn groups are known: Cr1t and Fly to clash for the first time

MDL Autumn is the first LAN after the big TI6 Shuffle and features some of the most interesting teams fighting each other for the first time.

Kicking off in just two days time, the main event of MDL Autumn will commence with a seeding group stage, counting for main event’s double elimination bracket. The eight participating teams will fight in two groups for the first two places that will grant them an upper bracket start in Xiamen, China at the $250,000 prize pool LAN event. The group stage will run from 28th to 29th of September while the playoffs double elimination bracket will be played from 30 to 2nd of October at Xiamen Exhibition Center in Xiamen, China.

Wings Gaming and Newbee set to make waves at Nanyang Cruise Cup

Nanyang and KeyTV explore new territories with a full Chinese tournament held on board of a cruise ship.

From the 13th to 17th of October, four Chinese teams will sail and battle on Sapphire Princess, one of the largest cruise ships in the world. Wings GamingThe International 6 Champion, and Newbee, the Nanyang Season 2 winner, received direct invites to this special event, and will be joined by two more qualified Chinese teams.

Nanyang Cruise Cup prize pool distribution:

1st place: ¥ 150,000 (~$22,483)
2nd place: ¥ 80,000 (~$11,990)
3rd place: ¥ 50,000 (~$7,494)
4th place: ¥ 20,000 (~$2,997)

BTS Seres EU #4: The playoffs are set ft. Vega and VP

Coming out on top in their respective groups, Elements Pro, Vega, FRIENDS, and Virtus Pro have earned themselves a place in the BTS Series Europe #4 playoffs.

With the group stage completed, the battle for the $5000 prize pool will continue in a single elimination bracket where the four remaining teams of the initial 16 will be playing. The play offs begins on Monday at 13:00 CEST and will be streamed by Beyond The Summit.

Ukrainian Cossacks pull out of the WESG

The Ukrainian Cossacks is a team formed for the WESG event and consists of all four Ukrainian players on Vega Squadron and Ilya 'ALOHADANCE' Korobkin. In an update on their website, Vega stated the reason for their withdrawal as deciding "to focus on practicing as a full team during boot camp in our team house." GosuGamers reached out to Vega for comment and was informed that both "the manager and players" decided to withdraw from the event, preferring to have more "time for training and preparation" in anticipation for future tournaments and the Major.
