Match of the day: Alliance vs Vega Squadron

With the dust slowly settling on The International 6 and in full shuffle swing, some of the teams are ready to approach the upcoming competitive season and already have their rosters sorted out.

This is the case for both Alliance and Vega Squadron who will play their first best-of-three official match post TI6 today, at 17:00 CEST in the WCA 2016 European qualifiers. While Alliance is one of the few, if not the only team, who will remain with an intact roster after the 2016 Fall Shuffle, Vega Squadron have tinkered their Dota 2 considerably. After they failed to qualify for TI6, they lost both Alexey 'Solo' Berezin and Vladimir 'No[o]ne' Minenko to Virtus.Pro and finalized their new line up only three days ago.

Team’s Spirit mid laner prodigy Bogdan 'Iceberg' Vasylenko was added to the team along with one of the most talented captains from the CIS teams,  Artsiom 'Fng' Barshak. Although Vega kept their previous team captain, Syoma 'CeMaTheSlayeR' Krivulya, with the new roster changes he will pass the leading duty to Fng who will make his debut as Vega’s new captain in just a few hours.

Coming to play for one of the two qualifying spots at the WCA $600,000 main event, the revamped roster of Vega Squadron will face the 2015 title defenders Alliance, who interestingly enough didn’t receive a direct invite for this Season. Although Alliance will not undergo any roster changes during this Shuffle period, they will play today with one stand in for Joakim 'Akke' Akterhall who is on vacation till 31st of August.

Alliance vs Vega Squadron
24th Agust 2016 - 17:00 CEST

Last time the two teams met was more than a month ago, on July 11th, in the second round of Global Grand Masters upper bracket. Back then, the old roster of Vega took the series 2-0. In less than three hours, at 17:00 CEST Alliance and Vega will meet again, this time with a higher stake ahead of them as having a good start and not dropping to the lower bracket will propel one of them one step closer to the WCA European qualifiers grand finals. The winner and the runner up of these qualifiers will secure a spot into the WCA main event and will also earn decent prize money for their run. First place finishers will take home $27,140 while  the runners up will get $13,570.

Alliance vs Vega Squadron will be broadcast in English by MoonDuck studios on their twitch.tv channel and in Russian by UCC on their Hitbox channel.
