The Summit Day 3 - DC beats FDL in the lower bracket

DC advanced into the next round of the lower bracket at The Summit 5 today, taking their series against FDL in the lower bracket 2-0, and eliminating FDL from the tournament in the process.

Game One:

The game entered the draft with FDL targeting Aliwi 'w33' Omar heroes; banning out his Meepo, Invoker, and Windranger, while Rasmus 'MiSeRy' Filipsen on the opposite side chose to remove some of the popular meta safe lane carries like Terrorblade, Luna and Sven. His plan seemed to be going for the aura draft, with Venge, Drow, and ET providing plenty of early game damage to help w33’s Medusa.

DC dominated the early game taking three kills in the first 10 minutes including a kill on Beano 'beesa’ Alder's Spectre, which they managed to snowball into an Aegis for Roman 'Resolut1on' Fominok a few minutes later. However, FDL’s item timings stayed on track with Batrider’s blink and Alchemist’s Radiance coming out around the 10 and 15 minute marks respectively. DC continued to shut down the Spectre, and the game ended 25 minutes in after a high ground push by DC on the back of another Aegis for Resolut1on.

Game Two

Both teams went for a few experimental heroes in game two, with FDL picking up an Ogre Magi and Troll Warlord, and Martin 'Saksa' Sazdov playing a support Silencer for DC. In the early game Quinn 'CC&C' Callahan began to dominate the mid lane CS on his signature Templar Assassin, but w33’s Ember Spirit answered with a rotation to the top lane to help in securing DC the game’s first blood on the offlane Faceless Void. His second gank attempt bottom lane on beesa was not as successful however. It concluded with w33 and David 'Moo' Hull both dying to the Troll. DC’s rotations continued to get them kills, with CC&C doing his best on the other side to pressure DC by forcing w33haaa out of lane completely with some stellar play on the Templar Assassin.

Fortunately for w33, his continued rotations on Ember Spirit paid off as he snagged a few quick kills roaming with his supports and creating space for Resolut1on’s Sven to farm. Sven finished his core items around 20 minutes in and DC looked to be firmly in control of the game from that point on, pushing lanes as five, grabbing the first racks of the game right before the 30-minute mark.  FDL wasn’t completely dead however, as they chased DC out of their base and caught them off guard, wiping the team of DC. DC easily recovered, and one more push was enough to finish FDL off.

DC now moves on to play Team Liquid in the next round of the lower bracket.
