Wings Gaming and Mineski knocked out of the Manila Major

Day one of the Manila Major main event had already seen two great upper bracket games, but now we would enter the lower bracket. Four best of one games and four teams to be eliminated – who would be able to keep their spot and challenge for the Manila Major title?

Wings versus compLexity

The first of the four elimination matches saw Wings Gaming going up against compLexity Gaming. The losing team would sadly exit the Major while the winner would be able to continue their run in the lower bracket - in a best of one match-up, who would prevail?

The first five minutes of the game saw no kills, with both teams focusing on farming, not wanting to throw the game away. At eight minutes, after a failed gank top from coL which wasted the Enigma Black Hole, first blood fell, going Wings' way. coL respond by pushing the bot tier one tower and then heading to take down mid tier one - coL lost three in the fight which proceeded this though.

As twenty minutes passed in the game, with the score line being 7-8 to Wings, the Dire team claim an uncontested Aegis before they dropped the tier one mid tower, but coL managed to drop the barracks top in a high ground push, while losing four in the fight around it. Wings then tried to take a fight mid, to push their small advantage, but they got wiped by coL and the Radiant moved high ground mid and dropped the melee barracks. Suddenly coL had full control of the game and with this they pushed down the bot barracks too and obtained mega creeps.

With thirty-two minutes passed, Wings called the GG, meaning they exit the Major while coL move on in the lower bracket.

Mineski versus Alliance

The second elimination game would see the home town team, Mineski, going up against Alliance. After disappointing group stages for both teams, with a few great performances, neither of these teams would want to head home today.

Alliance looked set to claim first blood in the mid lane with a gank, but some absolutely perfect play from Mineski claimed first blood instead, with a turn around on the mid gank. Mineski had much more map control, with fights being taken across the map and towers falling in their favour. Mineski then turned their eyes to Roshan, picking up an uncontested aegis before moving down mid.

When Alliance looked to take a fight and find a few quick kills, Mineski showed their strength and completely wiped the Alliance team. However, whenever Mineski tried to push high ground, the Dire would defend it, which gave them a small chance at a comeback. Alliance use the small amount of pressure they had to take an aegis, along with the bot tier two. Suddenly the game had turned to be in Alliance’s favour.

The next big fight occurred as both teams looked toward the Rosh pit and Mineski managed to destroy three of Alliance’s line up and claim the Aegis, before pushing down mid toward the tier three, but Alliance once again held the high ground. Alliance now pushed down mid, where an open barracks dropped.

After a period of more back and forth fights, Alliance dropped three of Mineski again and pushed down the tier three bot tower and melee barracks. With a fresh Aegis in hand, Alliance pushed through the top barracks at fifty one minutes and obtained mega creeps. Soon after, Mineski tapped out and with that lost their spot in the Manila Major. Alliance managed to turn the game around brilliantly and thus continue their lower bracket run.
