For the first time ESL One Frankfurt will feature a qualifier round for the American region, however this comes with cutting one spot from the European qualifiers.
Although it was initially announced that there would be three spots up for grabs for the LAN main event, the European Qualifiers were recently updated with only two spots available. The third spot has been cut to give US teams a chance of qualifying for the $250,000 LAN event that will take place between June 18-19th on Commerzbank Arena in Frankfurt, Germany.
Unlike the European format for the regional qualifiers, the American ones will feature only eight directly invited teams that will battle for the one ticket for ESL One Frankfurt 2016 in a single elimination bracket, best-of-three games with best-of-five grand finals.
The new Digital Chaos have been invited to these qualifiers along with compLexity Gaming, Shazam, EnemyGG, Team Freedom, Animal Kingdom and EverNovaS, all coming from North America, while South American Dota will be represented by Tshow.
American qualifiers for ESL One Frankfurt 2016 will kick off on April 12th at 17:00 EDT and will last until April 17th, with the grand finals scheduled for 16:00 EDT. The winner will join the three directly invited squads plus those already qualified from Europe, China and SEA at the LAN main event.
