ESL One Frankfurt: OG are the second invaders

The second team to be invited to the ESL One Frankfurt LAN event is Frankfurt Major champions, OG.

Back in Germany after winning the first ever Dota2 Major there, OG will be returning to the scene of their victory to fill the second direct invite slot for the ESL One Frankfurt LAN event.

This announcement comes a few days after news of the first direct invite, Alliance, was released, with one more direct invitation expected to be sent out in the coming days. The three direct invite teams will make up part of an eight-team event that ESL One plan for their Frankfurt LAN, with the other five teams coming from the European, Chinese, American and SEA qualifiers.

OG is one of the top teams in Europe, sitting 8th on Gosurankings global and 4th on Gosurankings Europe. After their formation during the post-TI5 shuffle, OG went on to win the Frankfurt Major, and despite the team being unable to keep winning tournaments they were able to put together a solid string of performances, finishing third at the MarTVs Dota2 League in January and 7th at the Shanghai Major. Recently, the team has only appeared in limited tournaments, with the only game recorded after the Shanghai Major being against MVP.Phoenix at the Dota Pit #4 LAN event.

As one of the most highly anticipated yearly LAN events, ESL One Frankfurt 2016 will feature a $250,000 prize pool and eight teams from around the world competing in a GSL Style group stages and subsequently a playoff stage. The playoff stage will take place in Frankfurt, Germany in the Commerzbank Arena on the 18th and 19th of June.
