Frankfurt Major European qualifiers; Liquid overwhelmed
Team Liquid are the first to get eliminated from Frankfurt Major European qualifiers playoffs stage.
The first day of the playoffs stage has started in an explosive way with (monkey) Business winning their first game versus the main favorites, Team Liquid in only 23 minutes on the back of a super aggressive last pick Meepo for Johan 'BigDaddyN0tail' Sundstein who managed to close the game with a 13/0/3 - K/D/A personal score.
It definitely was a very good day for MB who were not afraid to draft the signature Jakiro for Andreas 'Cr1t-' Nielsen. His Ice Paths were spot on in every teamfight and at the end of the series Liquid got knocked down into the Lower Bracket.
The other confrontation from the Upper Bracket was a Swedish duel between Ninjas in Pyjamas and Alliance from which NIP emerged victorious with a clear 2-0 final score, forcing Alliance into a do or die confrontation with Liquid.
Coming as main favorites in these regional qualifiers, the recently resurrected Tam Liquid have finished the group stages tied up with Alliance in the Group A with nine points. And it was quite surprising to see them so badly out drafted and outmaneuvered by (monkey) Business in the first match and then get their major dream crushed by AdmiralBulldog’s Furion in a tragicomical fashion.
It seems that the 6.85 patch is what Alliance needed to make a real comeback. With both Batrider and Nature’s Prophet receiving important changes Liquid chose to ban S4’s scary Flaming Lasso and underestimated Bulldog’s ability to win a game all by himself with the split push lord, Furion.
An insane item build choice from Henrik 'AdmiralBulldog' Ahnberg in the game three (Aghanim's Scepter, Refresher Orb, Octarine Core) versus Team Liquid kept Alliance still in the competition. In order to advance further they will have to also defeat the loser between (monkey) Business and NIP.
