09/10/2014 09:15 CEST Update: The full namelist for Natit Gaming has been announced, featuring a fully Malaysian team which will be led by NWP himself. It is likely that they will continue to use this name for now until they find a sponsor for their team.
Ng Wei 'YamateH/NWP' Poong just announced his new squad Natit Gaming, formed by him and four young and unknown talents. YamateH was the last remaining member of Titan, and the organization announced that they will not be signing a new DotA2 roster.
Prior to the LAN finals of WCA, Chai 'MuShi' Yee Fung and his former teammates from Orange announced the formation of Team Malaysia. While the SEA DotA2 community was rather satisfied with the all-Malaysian lineup, questions were raised about the whereabouts of Ng Wei 'YamateH/NWP' Poong, the former solo mid player of Titan. After the departure of the four players, NWP was the sole remaining member of the Titan, it was unknown whether a new team would be formed around him or he would leave the club as well. Today, Poong released more information regarding his future plans, and Titan announced the official disbandment of their DotA2 division.
NWP's new squad will be called 'Natit Gaming' (Natit is Titan in reverse), and it consists of himself and four new talented players from Malaysia and SEA in general. In his Facebook statement, he mentions that he wishes to be a leader for these upcoming players, and help them reach recognition. Unlike YamateH, Titan will not extend their DotA2 adventures. The organization does not plan to sign a new roster in the near future and they will focus on their successful CS:GO squad.
NWP's Facebook post:
"Thanks for the effort for pass three weeks hard training . It is a tough job for bring 4 new players and look for the sponsorship in SEA . After left Titan , the only thing i can do is keep the promise and bring your guys along with me . No matter how difficult , i hope our team will keep going and don't give up easily . As MaYun said : Today , you ignore me : tomorrow , i let u too high to reach ! And this moment , i will announce Natit Gaming is official to start ! Since no one want to lead the new players in Malaysia ! I will do it !"
Despite his sloppy English, Poong raises a very important issue regarding the eSports infrastructure in Malaysia. While there are several players with the talent and will to go professional, the lack of solid, reliable sponsors along with the small amount of prestigious tournaments really hurts the scene. In 2014, it should be considered unacceptable that incredible players such as YamateH, but also new and unknown talents must struggle to find proper representation in SEA.
