IG defeats VG 2-1, secures finals slot on WVW

Invictus Gaming is the first team to advance in the finals of WVW as they defeated Vici Gaming with the score of 2-1. They will be awaiting the winner of the other semifinal match, a showdown between DK and NewBee, scheduled tomorrow.

The two teams headed the finals looking strong, both fresh off 2-0 victories on the prior round. iG defeated CIS, while VG was dominant against LGD. With both teams trying to ride the momentum, a highly-contested first game was seen.

VG attacked early, while iG defended as they try to let their Anti-Mage farm. With the former still having a substantial lead, they showed moments of indecisiveness during iG's splitpush that ultimately lead to their downfall. Anti-Mage was able to destroy the bottom lane uncontested, and since then the balance shifted in favor of the enemy.

The second and third game were not as exciting. Both were games that finished within 30 minutes, with VG ending game two after totally dominating the laning phase and iG claiming the last one with a strong push line-up that featured Lone Druid, Nature's Prophet and Leshrac.

With the defeat, Vici Gaming finishes on a joint third/fourth place finish, and they will receive $400~ (2,500 RMB) for it. The other team who will finish the the same rank as them will be the loser of the other semifinal match, a showdown between DK and NewBee scheduled at 07:30 CEST (13:30 SGT) tomorrow.

The winner of course will proceed to the finals to face iG this coming 24 June. The winner of the championship match will get $5,500 (34,000 RMB), while the loser will settle for second place and a prize of $1,300~ (8,000 RMB).
