Round one of Suntec CDEC Newstar Cup has concluded today with Team DK, Vici Gaming, Invictus Gaming and NewBee advancing to round two, with LGD being eliminated.
The 100,000 RMB ($16,000) tournament has entered its playoffs stage with teams gunning to battle for a shot at the prize pool. Today, the first round of playoffs concluded with big names managing to sneak through to the next round. DK, Vici Gaming, Invictus Gaming and NewBee proceed to the next round.
DK, VG and iG relatively had easy tasks at hand as they disposed off LGD.CDEC, TongFu.Wanzhou and HGT respectively, in straight games without any trouble. Meanwhille, LGD Gaming posed a great challenge to NewBee in the last round one match in the upper bracket. In the end, xiao8 and company emerged victorious and thus have set up a clash against iG tomorrow.
On the other end, TongFu.Wanzhou got eliminated after being disposed off by LGD.CDEC in the lower bracket. Unfortunately, LGD Gaming lost to HyperGloryTeam in the lower bracket, which also marks the end of the road for the TI4 participants.
The games will resume tomorrow with DK facing Vici Gaming at 09.00 CEST followed by Invictus Gaming vs NewBee at 13.00 CEST. The winners go to winner bracket finals while the losers will drop down to losers bracket.
