The playoffs of the CDEC Newstar Cup will culminate today, having two first round games scheduled. This is a double-elimination tournament which will run until 22 June.
The playoffs will be an eight-team, double-elimination tournament which will feature four invited teams (DK, VG, iG and LGD) going up against the four qualified teams. The qualified teams went through the group stage last week, wherein the top two teams per group were promoted to this playoffs.
Among the eight teams on this tournament are five The International-bound teams. Out of the four, only NewBee advanced from the qualifiers. CN's wildcard representative, CIS, did not participate on this tournament.
CDEC Newstar Cup will culminate today, with DK scheduled to go up against LGD.CDEC at 09:00 CEST (15:00 SGT), followed by Vici Gaming squaring up versus Tongfu.WZ at 13:00 CEST (19:00 SGT). Both are best-of-three.
The first two rounds of the lower bracket will be best-of-one, and the grand finals will be best-of-five. Aside from that, all other matches on this tournament will be best-of-three.
The champion of this tournament will get more than half of the prizepool, which is 60,000 RMB ($9,600~).
