The Summit: DK advances to the grand finals, EG to face VG in lower bracket

Day 3 of The Summit LAN in Los Angeles, California had some of the best matches of the entire tournament. Today was filled with Evil Genius plowing through the loser's bracket competition while DK continued to showcase their talents. EG, DK, and VG will battle tomorrow to find out who will take home the gold.

The third day of The Summit saw a relentless DK squad continue their merciless drive towards the grand finals.  Meanwhile, in the loser's bracket, EG hit their stride.  The day ended with DK obtaining a much deserved spot in the grand finals while EG and VG are preparing to face off in tomorrows loser's bracket finals.  Na'vi.Na put up one last fight before their European counterpats knocked them out of the tournament.

DK started off the day facing fellow Chinese team VG.  DK dominated VG, sending them to the loser's bracket in a 2-0 sweep.  DK's first draft was by far the strangest of the tournament, showcasing a Queen of Pain, played by Mushi and a Riki, played by Burning. Although both games lasted roughly fifty minutes, it was a heavily one-sided affair, each game ending with DK in a 14 kill lead.

Dk continued to showcase their talents on day three

The most intense match of the day was the battle for Na'Vi supremacy, Na'Vi.Na versus Na'Vi.Eu. This was the only match of the day that went to three games. The US squad, whom had not won a single game in the group stages, came out swinging. They surprised the Europeans with a vicious, early game lineup featuring a Korok Kunkka. The US team won the first game in 15 minutes with a score of 19-1. The North Americans tried their same strategy in game 2, but this time Puppey and crew were ready. Kuroky with his signature Rubick and Dendi finishing 13-0 on Invoker, showed their new Na'Vi counterparts that they wouldn't fall for the same trick twice. The final game was an all out slug fest. The game lasted 71 minutes.

It appeared, for the majority of the game, that Na'Vi.Na had the upperhand. However, Na'Vi.Eu clawed their way back into the lead with a few slipups from Na'Vi.Na, some incredible highground defense and several clutch Mirana arrows from XBOCT. At the end of the day Na'VI.EU showed their new American counterparts who was the top dog.

Evil Genius went on a streak today, decimating their opponents and ending all of their games in less than 50 minutes.  They started off the day putting the final nail in Fnatic's coffin with a 2-0 sweep. Drafting Enigma in every single game turned out to be wildly successful as they breezed into the loser's bracket finals by sweeping Na'Vi.EU, ending both games in under 35 minutes.

Tomorrow will be the last day of the LAN starting with EG vs VG in the loser's bracket finals, with the winner advancing to play DK for a best-of-five in the grand finals. The prize pool for The Summit has now reached around $100,000, with $30,000 being used for traveling expenses. Each team will get a part of the cash prize pool, with the champion getting 45% of it.
