DK, Vici Gaming stand atop of The Summit day 1

The first day of The Summit's LAN stage has concluded, and the two Chinese teams are currently at the helm of the six-team tournament. The tournament will resume tomorrow at 17:00 CET, with three group stage games and the winner's bracket match-ups scheduled.

Vici Gaming is among the top two teams so far. Despite a rough first game where they lost against fellow Chinese team, DK, the team has bounced back to string three consecutive victories. They defeated the two teams under the Natus Vincere organization and then American team Evil Geniuses.

Sharing the top spot is team DK. They started in high gear, winning three straight, but then they were halted by Fnatic. Despite sporting a stand-in and being tagged as the heavy underdog, Fnatic went on to completely stomp the Chinese team, defeating them in less than 30 minutes.

DK after losing their match against Fnatic

Fnatic is among the three teams tied up in the middle of the pack. Their stand-in Steve 'Excalibur' Ye had an amazing debut on this tournament as he led the team on their victory against DK with a 10-0 Tinker.  He was checked by Na`Vi.EU on the following game, but he managed to rebound and perform well on the following ones. The European team also split their final two games, claiming a win against Na`Vi.NA and bowing out against Evil Geniuses.

Natus Vincere's European team had a shaky start, taking defeat against the two Chinese teams. They fought back on the latter two, defeating two highly esteemed eSports organization teams in Evil Geniuses and Fnatic. Their final match of the day was big, as they stopped the Fnatic team who was still running in high spirits from their first win.

Evil Genius is the last team in this current three-way tie. Like the TI1 Champion, they also dropped their first two games which came against Na`Vi.EU and Vici Gaming before coming back with consecutive wins. They first defeated the team previously known as NAR, and then they stopped Fnatic's strong push to end with a 2-2 score.

Natus Vincere's NA team had an unfortunate start on their first tournament under this organization. The winner of the TI4 Americas qualifiers dropped all of their four matches today, and are thus guaranteed of lower bracket slot in The Summit's playoffs.

The top four teams from the group will be placed in the upper bracket of the double-elimination playoffs, with the top seed getting to choose between the third and fourth ranked teams to be their opponent. The bottom two teams will be sent into the lower bracket. If Na`Vi.EU wins tomorrow, and the two Chinese team end up losing, we will be encountering an unusual five-team tiebreaker.

The final three games of the round-robin stage is scheduled tomorrow, with all six participating teams taking part in the matches. Tiebreakers will be played if necessary, and the day will conclude with the two best-of-three winner's bracket match.
