Orange eSports, who has just one official member in this tournament to go with four stand-ins, had an undefeated run in the $3,100 Dota 2 Open Championship held in Putrajaya, Malaysia. They defeated TI4 SEA qualifier champion Arrow Gaming twice en route to the title.
Orange eSports has ended their strong showing with a resounding victory in the Dota 2 Open Championship held in Putrajaya, Malaysia as they defeated Arrow Gaming in the finals. The winner of the TI4 SEA qualifiers were not given the chance to bounce back as Orange pressured them with a relentless push. Orange did not let their twice-to-beat advantage come of use, and they scored the championship by winning their first and only game of the day.
Out of Orange's roster, only Raymond 'Sharky' Wong is considered as an official member. Clanton 'Clanton' Thoo, Sim 'Ling' Woi Cheong, Daniel 'TooFuckingGood' Wong and Jun 'dabeliuteef' Liong, the four stand-ins, are all past Orange eSports players. The latter three have also participated The International 3 with team MUFC. Litt-Binn 'WinteR' Chan, one of the two players reportedly being retained in Orange, is not present as he is China to serve as Alliance's coach for WPC-ACE.
Despite the success, we were assured by Liong that this is but a temporary team and nothing further than this had been talked about yet. However, it is very likely that a similar roster will be representing the team in the upcoming Good Play SEA Invitational, wherein Orange is an invited team.
With the win, Orange eSports earned 5,000 RM ($1,550~), while Arrow Gaming and Invasion will get 2,500 RM ($775~) and 1,000 RM ($310~) respectively for their second and third place finish. The teams who finished fourth to eight also received a part of the 10,000 RM ($3,100~) prize pool. The prize is sponsored by Malaysia's Ministry of Youth and Sports.
