VG, LGD competing with six other Asian teams for final ESL One Frankfurt slot

Chinese teams Vici Gaming and LGD will be joining the ESL One Asian finals alongside six other teams, and they will be competing for the final slot in the LAN finals in Franfurt, Germany. The Asian finals will start this Monday, 26 May.

Chinese teams Vici Gaming and LGD will be headlining the five-day ESL One Asian qualifiers set this 26-30 May. These two teams finished third and second respectively in the Chinese qualifiers, hence their qualification to this tournament.

They will be joined by four invited teams: Titan, Scythe, Arrow and MVP Phoenix. Rounding up the eight-team tournament are the top two teams in the SEA Battle Royale, Malaysian-team Invasion and another Koraen-team in Pokerface. The two teams from the Battle Royale ousted teams like RRQ and Mineski to reach this stage.

Originally a multi-stage tournament featuring a group stage and a knockout playoffs, the the Asian finals is now changed into a single-elimination tournament because of time constraint. The games will be best-of-three, except for the finals which will be best-of-five.

There will be two games apiece this 26-28 May, and then there will be a one-day break before proceeding to the grand finals on the next. The champion of the Asian qualifier will be heading to ESL One's LAN finals in Frankfurt, Germany this 28-29 June. That will be an eight-team tournament, and the other teams are Natus Vincere, Alliance, mousesports, Fnatic, Cloud9, Invictus Gaming and Evil Geniuses.
