Details for MSI Beat IT 2014 Dota 2 tournament released

Details pertaining to the MSI Beat IT 2014 Global Dota 2 tournament have been revealed. The competition boasts a total prizepool of $113,500 with $44,000 allotted to Dota 2.

Additional details pertaining to the MSI Beat IT 2014 Dota 2 qualifiers have been released. Depending on the region, the format of the tournament will follow a similar format except for a select few, which will comprise of two qualifiers as opposed to one with the grand finals being held on the 1st and 2nd of November in Taipei, Taiwan.
 

  • Europe (1st qualifier 2-4 June, 2nd qualifier 23-25 June)
  • China (1st qualifier 9-10 August; 2nd qualifier 16-17 August)


The European and Chinese region will consist of two open qualifiers that will allow a cap limit up to 64 registered teams per qualifier. Two teams from each of the qualifier will join the four invited teams in a double elimination bracket. The winner will qualify for the Grand Final in Taiwan.
 

  • Middle East (20-21 June)


Middle East will consist of one open qualifier with 64 registered teams. Top four teams will qualify for the local LAN qualifier to be hosted by MSI, wherein the winner earns a ticket to the Grand Final in Taiwan.
 

  • APAC (25-26 July)


Four teams from the open qualifier will proceed on to face the other four invited teams in a double elimination best-of-three bracket, out of which the winner will qualify for the Grand Final in Taiwan.
 

  • America (4-5 July)


The American qualifiers will follow a similar tournament format comprising of one open qualifier, where, four teams will proceed on to face the other four invited teams in the main qualifier. The winner will eventually go to the Grand Final in Taiwan.

The qualifier details for Africa and Australia will be revealed in the coming days. Related to the regional playoffs, the winner bracket will be a best-of-three whilst losers bracket will be a best-of-one with the Grand Final being a best-of-five affair (team coming through the winner bracket will have 1-0 advantage).

Note: Tournament dates are subject to be changed since the dates are not completely confirmed.

Prize distribution:

1st Place - $25,000
2nd Place - $12,000
3rd Place - $7,000
