The Summit Asian qualifier : ViCi Gaming and NewBee to fight for Los Angeles spot

ViCi Gaming is the second finalist of The Summit Asian qualifiers, after a frantic Lower Bracket final against DT.NGC. VG and NewBee will now face each other in the best-of-five grand final, and the winner will join DK in the Los Angeles LAN finals in June.

The upcoming tournament The Summit was announced back in March, and it is one of the several international competitions taking place in 2014. It features both an online and LAN phase, with the participants fighting over a $50,000 prize pool (with a crowd funding boost from the DotaTV ticket). The tournament includes three regional qualifiers for Europe, Asia and America, with the Asian and American qualifiers including two stages - the pre-qualifiers and the main qualifiers (for Europe it is just one stage).

After an action-packed month full of Chinese and SEA matches, we have reached the judgement day for the Asian qualifiers of The Summit. Yesterday, NewBee secured their spot in the Grand Final through a 2-1 victory against DT.NGC, and today ViCi Gaming did exactly the same. Thus, NewBee and ViCi will enter the best-of-five grand final, in the hope of earning the sole Asian spot in the offline main event at BTS Studio, Los Angeles. It should be reminded that Natus Vincere and DK received a direct seed to the finals, and they will be joined by one Asian, one European and two American teams (through the respective regional qualifiers).

DT.NGC vs ViCi Gaming

Game One [Winner : VG]

ViCi Gaming selected their common teamfight-based lineup with the tasty addition of Beastmaster, aiming to control DT's massive early game push power. The Ancient Apparition - Sand King combination worked like a charm for rOtk's boys, who managed to impose their dominance throughout the majority of the game. With two Force Staves and two Blink Daggers, the mobility of VG's heroes was too much to handle for DT, and they eventually succumbed to the continuous pressure coming out of their opponents. The 'GG' was called by minute 35, despite InJuly's successful assault against the Radiant top barracks.

Game Two [Winner : DT.NGC]

It was time for DT to turn up the aggression, with an unconventional Night Stalker pick-up aimed to counter Super's Storm Spirit. The quick rotations by DT against Super gave a strong advantage to the Radiant, but the difference was nullified by Sylar's astonishing performance on Weaver. As the game progressed, xdd's Morphling started turning into a real threat, as the shut-down Clockwerk and Storm Spirit could not offer the required map control the shotgun-oriented carry. With the help of Centaur Warruner and Night Stalker, DT possessed the larger teamfight arsenal, and they were able to overrun VG and force a 65minute 'GG' call.

Game Three [Winner : VG]

Realizing that early game dominance is the key to success, ViCi Gaming opted for huge early pushing and teamfight potential. Thus they selected Nature's Prophet, Pugna and Alchemist as their cores, and - naturally - every outer tower went down before the 14th minute mark. However, the real maestro of the symphony of destruction was fy's Earthshaker, who decimated DT with a final score of 8-0-11. The Dire showed very little resistance, ultimately forfeiting the game before the 25th minute mark.
