GTA VI’s first gameplay reveal shows off its crime-ridden city.
Rockstar Games has officially revealed almost half an hour of gameplay from Grand Theft Auto VI, showcasing the game's dual protagonists, crime-ridden story, and modernised take on Vice City.
The gameplay reveal went live on Netflix first, before being published on YouTube and Rockstar’s official website six hours later (9am GMT+8)

What was shown in GTA VI’s gameplay reveal?
Rockstar Games’ highly-anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI showcase has finally revealed gameplay for the upcoming sequel. In a short half an hour, we saw footage of Jason and Lucia drive around Leonida, commit robberies, join a gang, and work together to make some money in the game's exciting rendition of Vice City.
The gameplay reveal video opens with Jason and Lucia heading over to a house populated by drug smugglers to collect money, before the entire group gets ambushed by a police raid. Later, the duo help to drive a criminal named Raul to safety in an effort to join his gang. Since they do so safely, they assume they're in.
In the last stretch of the video, we see one last mission wherein Jason and Lucia are hired to protect a man named Andre. The mission goes awry when armed men storm the building they're in, and Lucia falls down an elevator chute. Her fate is left unknown, as the video cuts to a quick gameplay montage right after.
What did we learn from the GTA VI gameplay reveal?
There are a few things we learned about GTA VI that we didn’t know before, thanks to this gameplay reveal. First off, you can pet dogs! We see Jason and Lucia pet a dog close to the beginning of the showcase, before things go terribly awry. We also see a colourful variety of different body types in this video alone, which hints at the diversity of characters and NPCs we’ll see in Leonida.
There’s also a six-star Wanted system that we see later on during a car chase. Jason and Lucia end up ditching a car and burning it, which seems to throw the cops off their scent. We also see Jason shoot the tires out of a vehicle to damage it, which appears to be a sound strategy when players find themselves in car chases.
We also see Red Dead Redemption 2-style slow motion kills. Jason and Lucia’s bond with one another is also displayed in a domestic moment for the couple, where Jason hangs out at home while Lucia gets ready for a big day out. While Jason gets ready, he also watches TV and we see some pretty tongue-in-cheek advertisements for a drug called Angstipan and a Prairie Sandwich with 30,000 calories.
We also see the inadvertent kidnapping of a live streamer, parachuting, and nightclubs. A few more activities shown in the video include ocean diving, wrestling, racing, and drinking. It looks like there will be plenty to keep players occupied when GTA VI launches.
