Star Series Season IX Europe Division - Three way tie forces tiebreakers

We have reached the end of the round-robin season of the Star Series IX Europe Division. With a sudden turn of events, RoX.KIS, Cloud9 and Alliance are tied with 33 points, and will have to solve their differences in a tiebreaker for the remaining playoff spots.

One of the most interesting Star Series seasons to date has reached its conclusion, and will be followed by the playoffs at Cyberarena, Kiev. Two teams from China, one from Korea and one from United States will join the top-four European teams in an epic battle for the biggest Starladder prize pool to date, almost $212,000.

For the European division, the tension was high up until the very end, with RoX.KIS, Cloud9 and Empire challenging Alliance's fragile lead during the penultimate week of the season. However, with Natus Vincere returning from their long break, the situation went from bad to worse for the Swedes. Na'Vi managed to grab seven wins in nine games, but not without losing to RoX.KIS. With their victory, RoX.KIS have 11 wins in 15 games, the same as Alliance and Cloud9. With the head-to-head results between the three teams being unable to solve the tie mathematically, tiebreakers will be held to find the two squads that will be heading to Kiev.

The participants of LAN finals :

Russia Team Empire
Korea MVP.Phoenix
China Team DK

United States Evil Geniuses

We have no information about the date of the tiebreakers between Alliance, Cloud9 and RoX.KIS, but they are expected to be held this week, since the LAN finals are approaching fast - they are scheduled to begin on April 17th.

NOTE : The final match between Fnatic and NEXT.Kz has been postponed, but it is a clash of no significance since it does not affect the final-four. Both Fnatic and NEXT.Kz have no chance to reach the top-four anymore.
