WPC-ACE League round one in a nutshell

Round one of WPC-ACE League has finally concluded and in case you have missed any of the actions from the past five weeks, here's a recap on everything you need to know about the first stage.

DK versus Invictus Gaming

??The biggest story of WPC-ACE League is undoubtedly the rivalry between dream team DK and Invictus Gaming. DK is one of the most highly anticipated teams coming into WPC-ACE League, showing off their newly acquired players Iceiceice, Mushi and Lanm, and they did not disappoint. They were off to a fast start, going on an undefeated streak and even beating Invictus Gaming in playtime #3 in a very highly contested match. Despite that, many still doubted DK's ability to showcase their strong performance in the long run. From playtime #3 onwards, nobody could stand against the aggressive and explosive DK playstyle.

iG on the other hand, showcased a steady and stable performance throughout round one and many claimed iG could beat DK if given the chance. The chance came in the giants' second encounter in D2L Season 4 where iG took down DK convincingly post-6.79 patch. Many could not believe how hard the patch hit DK until they dropped two more games against TongFu in the final playtime of round one.

With the loss, iG was able to catch up to DK and tie them for the first place. Assuming no hiccups happen, DK will play iG again on the 1st of November to decide who is truly the best team in China.

The bottom feeders of round one

??Scrapping the bottom of the standings at the end of round one are Team Adidas (also known as TongFu.Wanzhou), Cupid's Heart and Rattlesnake. Team Adidas and Cupid's Heart came into the tournament as an amateur team and they truly got a taste of what it is like to be playing with Gods. While Cupid's Heart did put up a good fight against some of the top teams, Team Adidas has been beaten and tortured in all their games, almost to the point where it is just sad.

Team Adidas is currently 0-0-9 in the standings and seems extremely unlikely that they will make anywhere close to top six. The same goes with Rattlesnake and Cupid's Heart who both finished round one with a record of 1-0-8, with their only match won is their match against Team Adidas. It would take a miracle for these teams to win their next nine matches to get into the playoffs.

And everything in between

While the top placers and the bottom placers of the standing were clearly defined, TongFu, LGD.cn, Vici Gaming, Rising Stars and LGD.International were in an endless battle in the middle of the table. With most teams only separated by one point, TongFu and LGD.cn finished in third and fourth place respectively because they were able to adapt to 6.79.

Following closely behind TongFu and LGD.cn are Vici Gaming and RisingStars who accumulated 16 points and 14 points. Both the teams have put up great fights against the teams above them and everybody seemed to have stopped calling Bai 'ROTK' Fan. In fact he has led his team to countless victory, sporting his signature Elder Titan.

LGD.int is currently placed seventh, one position shy of making the playoffs. They started the tournament relatively well but their tendency to not maintain their heavy lead in the laning phase have landed them in this position. They have only won two of their last ten games against Cupid's Heart and Team Adidas.

We haven't really seen DK being down throughout the ACE-League but iG really did give them a run for their money this game.

One team fight to settle it all, that's the motto Vici Gaming went for in their game against TongFu.
