With the groupstage concluding a week ago, the playoffs of the Nexon Sponsorship League will start later today with the first match being FXOpen versus NJ&Kids.
The end of the groupstage marks the survival of eight teams out of the original sixteen teams that took part in the Nexon Sponsorship League and signals the tournament entering its playoffs stage. The format of the playoffs will be a best-of-three, single elimination format in the quarter finals, with the winners of the quarters entering a double elimination format playoff grid.
Team FXOpen will kick off the playoffs by playing against Team NJ&Kids later today at 12:00 CEST. The best-of-three match between the two teams will be their first encounter with each other in the event as they were from different groups. FXOpen did not drop a single game throughout the groupstages, while Team NJ&Kids lost one in the group stage, placing FXOpen as the favourite in the matchup.
The second game of the playoffs will start immediately after the first at 16:00 CEST featuring MVP against Team Virtual Throne. Again, this matchup will be the two teams' first encounter in the tournament with the matchup being more favorable to MVP as the team placed first in its group while Team Virtual Throne placed second in its group.
The last two games of the quarter finals will commence on day 2 feauturing Team Underated against Season.one and Team StarTale against Eye of Tiger. The main English streamers covering the playoffs are BeyondTheSummit and JoinDotaRed.
