TI3 Day four recap - Alliance guaranteed top two

>> Newsticker for Day 4 - match updates, drafts, scoreboards, live blog

Lower bracket, Day 4 recap

The day started with the second part of the series DK vs Orange as well as iG vs TongFu. Yesterday, DK and iG won their first games. Today it was completely different though as both these two teams lost the rest of their games and ended up in 5th/6th place. Orange went into their games of today with an incredibly firm mindset, showing a solid display of skills and executing their game plans to perfection. To the surprise of many, they managed to take both remaining games from DK and move on to the lower bracket semi. Most people probably expected TongFu to bounce back in their series vs iG - which they did, they shaped up and outplayed iG twice in a row, thus eliminating the defending champions from further competition.

These two teams then went up against each other, where Orange started really strong, pulling off great team fights and controlling the movements of TongFu in the first game. TongFu managed to take the second game though, where Hao's farmed Anti-Mage together with a solid team behind him proved too much for Orange. But only in that game, XtincT got his Visage in the third game and Hao got his Anti-Mage again. But this game was sheer domination from Orange, the latter was the more eager team. With a well deserved win, Orange moved on to the loser bracket final.

Upper bracket, Day 4 recap

The big match yesterday was obviously the big Western clash in the Upper Bracket final. The two teams Natus Vincere and Alliance were both expected by many to win the whole thing prior to the event, and here they finally meet in one of the final rounds. In the first game, Na`Vi tried to counterpick Alliance in an attempt to break their usually strong draft. They had their opponents' counters and at the start the game looked decent but Alliance kept the farm and experience up and once the latter hit their time of having an early fat Alchemist (Shadow Blade, BKB, AC) they just went push mode and Na`Vi were too weak at this stage. In the second game, Na`Vi tried a push strat, avoiding all fights to just move around the map, killing all outer six towers. However they had rather low hp heroes and were up against both Alchemist and Lone Druid, one fight at Roshan where Na`Vi got greedy to finish the low hp Rosh was the beginning of the end. Just as Roshan was about to die, EGM used Song of Siren and Alliance walked in there, took down the heroes of Na`Vi and claimed Roshan for themselves. From this point, it was all Alliance's game. A clean 2-0 for Alliance, adding to their TI3-record (now at 20-1) which guaranteed them top two.

Documentary screening

After the scheduled matches yesterday, everyone present at The International 2013 had the priviledge of watching a screening of "Free to Play" Valve's Dota 2 documentary following hyhy, Dendi and Fear, right here on the big screen in the main hall. All WiFi was shut down during the screening and nobody was allowed to take photos or shoot any video during, so we can't share any visuals but everyone here were psyched about watching Dota 2 getting recognition. All we ever worked for and followed for quite some time now is finally out there as a proper story. Catch it when it will be available in about two months!

Editor's pick (Tjernobyl):

Some good games were played yesterday, that can not be argued. The day started off in a very strong manner with Orange versus DK, recommended VODs for sure. The hyped winner bracket final was perhaps not as outstanding even though it was an exciting match, first game recommended.

>> Orange vs DK (game 3)
>> Alliance vs Na`Vi (game 1)

Schedule for today (11/08/13)

The last day is upon us! First off is the lower bracket final between Na`Vi and Orange. Whomever wins this prestigeful match moves on the Grand Final against Alliance for the top title of the year, it's a best of five.

21:15 - Na`Vi vs Orange (bo3)
00:15 - GRAND FINAL

It's the holy grail of The International 3 coverage!
