Alliance makes miraculous comeback for Star Series grand final spot

Day 2 of the Star Series VI LAN finals has ended with a stunning game two between Alliance and Virtus.Pro in which the Swedes have shown some really impressive teamwork to end with a 2-0 score. Earlier today iCCup managed to eliminate Quantic from the playoffs, beating them with 2-0.

iCCup vs. Quantic

DRAFT

Quantic opted for a mobility line-up in game one with the CK + Wisp combo but they were unable to pull off ganks due to the tanky nature of iCCup's line-up. Andrey "Mag" Chipenko was on fire today with his Windrunner, latching shackles after shackles and turn ganks around for iCCup. Quantic's aggression was not paying off as they head into mid-game with significant disadvantages. A perfect counter-initiation from iCCup on the bottom lane saw 4 of Quantic got caught in the Black Hole. They suffered severe loss and could not recover, admitting defeat shortly afterwards.

The second game started well for iCCup who claimed a fast first blood. The Ukraininans dominated the first minutes as they managed to shut down Quantic's farming machine Black^. Claiming the first two Aegis and both mid and top's melee rax, iCCup expected to end the game fast but Alchemist helped Quantic to even the game. Nevertheless, with Resolut1on's excellent initiations and generally better teamfights, iCCup managed to stop Alchemist's farm and forced the "gg" call in 47 minutes.

Virtus.Pro vs. Alliance

DRAFT

Alliance couldn't have wished for a worse start in game one as team's carry Loda died three times in the first three minutes. With the Gyrocopter shut down the early game was entirely in Virtus.Pro's favor. However, there was still hope as Henrik "AdmiralBulldo" Ahnberg completed the Radiance on his bear 16 minutes in. Alliance managed to come back in the mid game by claiming the first Aegis and then wiping the entire VP squad. Still, Virtus.Pro was leading in the gold difference but S4's impressive Puck helped Alliance to take the win.

The Swedes had a rough beginning in game two as Illidan's Phantom Assassin was owning the early and mid game of the match. Virtus.Pro had the more kills, the more Aegis claims and it seemed somehow clear that this game will be theirs to grab. However while his teammates were being wiped out, Admiral Bulldog managed to destroy the top barracks despite VP's dominance. In a stunning move Alliance managed to come back, killing PA and Roshan in 40 minute. This gave them the motivation to further push the bottom lane and finish the game despite being with a negative kill/death score.

By losing their match Quantic has been eliminated from the Finals, taking fourth place and $1,500 of the prize-pool. Tomorrow iCCup will stand against Virtus.Pro in the Lower Bracket Final in a match where the loser will go home while the winner will have the chance to contest the first place in the Grand Final against Alliance on July 7.
