eSport-United: The new Dota community

After the dota-scene has been a bit stalled lately, with a PriDe final, that never was played, and Dota-League being over, we are now looking towards brighter times. Both Dota-League and myMYM are soon launching bot the new pick-league and the new PriDe, but now something new is coming up. The organisation eSports-United recently launched a short 16 teams cup and was up with another tournament just one day after. In future we can look forward to much more tournaments and even a league. We caught up with Sweden Rebate, the man behind this new refreshment to the dota community.

GosuGamers: Okay, first of all can you in short describe the new concept with a lot of short dota-cups?

Rebate: Well, I've been a player for years and i know how boring it is without playing tournaments etc. So that's why i thought this could be a great ideá. I let almost everyone participate and i encourage them to participate in the next cup for more activity.

GosuGamers: Hopefully this will bring more activity to the dota-cmmunity. The winner of first tournament was RAPTOR, a pretty well known dota-team even though they arent considered amough the very best. Do you hope that teams like MYM and KS.int will participate or is it mostly for the teams just below the very best?

Rebate: Well of course its great to have the bigger teams in the tournament, but that's nothing im really going for. These open DoTA cups are for everyone, Beginners, Professionals etc. But we will have INVITE Tournaments in the near future for the more known and better teams.

GosuGamers: Well thats sound interessting. Will there then be prize money in the invite tournament? And will we perhaps in the future see small prizes even in the open tournaments?

Rebate: I am negotiating with a poker company at the moment if we could have like a big tournament with like €2000 as prizemoney. And of course divided among the top5 places. Yeah there will be some prizes in the open tournaments too.

GosuGamers: Thats will be nice for sure. Now back to the open tournaments again. The last two days, there have been one tournament a day with 16 teams in. Will it continue this way or will we perhaps see tournaments over 2 days with perhaps 32 teams in?

Rebate: Yeah, and it's been working good. Getting alot of compliments from the players. We will try to continue to have a few cups a week. And we will release a CUP website aspecially for eSports-United. And we will also start a DOTA league in like a month with several divisions.

GosuGamers: Im sure a lot of people will look forward to that. Right now the most popular league is Dota-League.com. Are you hoping to outrank them as being #1 league? Or you just want to make an alternativ to dota-league?

Rebate: It would be great to be number 1 , Altho i think is very hard at the moment since Dota-League have been around for years and have alots of experience. But we will of course try to get a few more people involved with eSports-United Dota Community that can help this organisation to become alot bigger. And as i said before, we are talking at the moment to a sponsor that can provide money for our league winners etc.

GosuGamers: Well speaking about eSport-United Dota Community or just the dota community, what do you think about the dota community in general and how do you think it can be improved? And what will you do in eSports-United to improve this, besides making tournaments?

Rebate: I thin the DoTA scene is good of what ive discovered myself. There are so many teams and players out there that doesnt get a chance to participate in tournaments etc. Thats what we wants to change. We want to give all the teams and player a chance to play a real tournament. eSports-United will soon launch a website where people can find the latest news about team changes, updates among other things.

GosuGamers: Thank you for you time. Im sure that a lot of people are looking forward for the website and all the stuff you are launching. Good luck

Rebate: Thanks for the chat and i would like to thank all players and teams for making this possible. Special thanks to : Bentzer, pepp3, njt7, Pieliedie, Otso and Pellehenrik.

The page is not up yet, but when it comes it we will announce it here at gosugamers.net and if you want to participate in the open tournaments or just want to support this new dota-community site, then join #esport-united at Quakenet.org at IRC.
