Peter "ptr" Gurney leaves NRG roster

After two years on the roster, Peter "ptr" Gurney has stepped back from Counter-Strike for now.

One of the staples of NRG Esports' Counter-Strike team is now stepping down from the active roster. Peter "ptr" Gurney announced on Twitter yesterday that he will be parting ways with the organisation after over two years on their roster. The tweet was met with a warm reception from the organisation, players and fans alike, with his teammate Allan "AnJ" Jensen speaking to ptr's dedication to the scene.

"The limited time I've got to spend with this guy showed me how much he cares about winning and his dedication," AnJ wrote in a tweet. "This guy GRINDS. GL Pete."

With ptr on the team, NRG was able to reach 7-8th place in both DreamHack Atlanta 2017 and DreamHack Valencia 2017, as well as 11-12th in ESL Pro League Season 5. The team also finished first in multiple monthly events over the two years, as well as qualify for multiple DreamHack, ESL One and ELEAGUE events.

There is no announcement as of yet on who will be replacing the AWPer on NRG's roster. Currently Jacob "FugLy" Medina, Vincent "Brehze" Cayonte, Damian "daps" Steele and the aforementioned AnJ remain on the roster for the US-based squad.
