DreamHack have revealed the attending teams, groups and schedule for the first tournament of the year, DreamHack ZOWIE Open: Leipzig 2017.
The first of nine DreamHack Open events held in 2017 will take place in Leipzig, Germany on January 13th-15th with eight teams attending. Two new teams, qwerty and BIG will be attending the $100,000 tournament, hoping to make an impression during their first event as a team.
Additionally DreamHack have revealed the prize distribution of the $100,000 prize pool, which is as follows:
1st place - $50,000
2nd place - $20,000
3rd & 4th places - $10,000
5th & 6th places - $3.000
7th & 8th places - $2,000
The opening and winners matches of the group stage will be played as best-of-ones, while the remainder of the groups stage and the whole playoffs stage will use a best-of-three format. The top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals, where they will fight for a spot in the grand final in a single-elimination bracket.
