ViCi Gaming picks up top Chinese team

ViCi Gaming, one of the most established esport organizations in China, signs ex-CyberZen.

Towards the end of last year, ViCi Gaming and EHOME, the two most successful DotA 2 teams in China, announced that they were looking into aquiring CS:GO teams, specifically in Asia. The Asian CS:GO scene is one of the fastest growing in the world, with teams like Tyloo, ViCi/ex-CyberZen, and most recently The Mongolz, who took the region by storm when qualifying for IEM Katowice 2016 and MLG Columbus.

While EHOME is yet to announce a Counter-Strike squad, ViCi Gaming picked up one of the most decorated teams in China, who were formerly playing under CyberZen's banner. Under CyberZen, they made it all the way to the semifinals in the Asia Minor Championship, but lost to Renegades, the Australian top dogs. They also came in 7th-8th place at the StarSeries global finals at the beginning of this year, but were knocked out by FaZe Clan, then known as G2 Esports.

This move is a great sign for the growth of Chinese CS:GO, as it has been a very underserved region. Now, however, there are MOBA giants coming in to give the region the attention that they deserve.

ViCi Gaming's inagural CS:GO team is as follows:

China Bingyuan "tb" Li
China Bin "Savage" Liu
China Zhuo "advent" Liangh
China ZhiHong "uki" Liu
China WeiJie "zhokiNg" Zhong
